Despite the massive amount of media attention that she received after her surprise wedding to Nick Cannon last week, Mariah’s new single ‘Bye Bye’ has dropped from #22 to #41 on this week’s Soundscan singles chart in America. People may be interested in her wedding but it seems like no one gives a crap about her single. It sucks for her. But congratulations goes out to Madonna whose single ‘4 Minutes’ is at #3 this week with her second single ‘Give It 2 Me’ debuting at #21. I wonder if anything good will happen to Mariah’s career if she suddenly announces that she was pregnant.

The British have made up their mind and the numbers definitely show that they prefer their adopted child Madonna over Mariah Carey. The chart results have recently been announced and the Queen of Pop’s new album ‘Hard Candy’ has topped the UK charts by coming in at the #1 spot. Mariah’s ‘E=MC2’ only managed to debut at #3 on the album charts. Additionally, Madonna’s ‘4 Minutes (To Save the World)’ is at #1 for a 3rd week on the UK singles chart. She doesn’t stop there as ‘Hard Candy’ also takes the top spot in more than 25 countries as more numbers roll in. Congratulations!

On the elimination show of American Idol, it seemed like a theme was still part of the night. The final 7 performed Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s ‘One Sweet Day’. After Elliot Yamin’s performance, he talked about the recent death of his mother and how he misses her and then Mariah Carey performs a song called ‘Bye Bye’ talking about loved ones that have passed away. And speaking of goodbye, Kristy Lee Cook was the latest to be cast off. She was joined by Brooke White and Syesha Mercado in the bottom 3. It was a pretty interesting elimination night when David Archuleta was asked to choose from the groups of David Cook, Jason Castro and Carly Smithson vs. the bottom 3 group (then unknown) for who he thinks is safe. David chose to sit down in the middle.

Mariah Carey turned every bit the diva when she was on Radio One on Sunday. The curvaceous singer did her very best Madonna “I’m a Brit†impression but then got her panties in a bunch when the radio host inadvertently said she’s only sold 80 million records. ONLY!!! Mariah then countered the number and said that her record sales are actually closer to 160 million when the call was mysteriously dropped. Did she hang upon the radio interview? Talk about being a diva. It’s almost as egotistical as George Michael saying there’s going to be movies made on his life.

And pisses off execs at NBC in the process.
Sources say Mariah Carey, her manager Benny Medina, and reps at Def Jam are on the NBC bad list. Seems they promised that Mariah would do an appearance and performance on Today to promote her new album E=MC2. Instead, she’s going to be on ABCs Good Morning America, a rival show.
No word yet on how NBC will retaliate!

Here’s some proof that Mariah Carey is pretty much a household name. She doesn’t have a new album out yet she has a Top Ten single without even exerting any effort. She better thank the people who said that digital downloads count for something towards chart success. Her ‘All I Want for Christmas’ is #8 this week in the US according to Soundscan. It looks like people are really into the holiday spirit as Josh Groban’s Christmas album actually took the top spot by selling over 500,000 records this past week and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. Who knew Santa can be a big capitalist ploy?

Leona Lewis’ ‘Bleeding Love’ continues to reign over the UK singles’ charts. The list was announced on Sunday and it marks the seventh week that Leona has been on top. The X-Factor winner’s debut CD ‘Spirit’ is also at the top spot of the albums’ chart and it’s been there for the last four weeks.
But ‘Bleeding Love’ is facing some stiff competition this holiday season. The rest of the singles chart, in order, is made up of T2 featuring Jodie Aysha with ‘Heartbroken’, Girls Aloud with ‘Call the Shots’, Timbaland with ‘Apologize’, Take That with ‘Rule the World’, Alicia Keys with ‘No One’, Mark Ronson featuring Amy Winehouse with ‘Valerie’, Mariah Carey with ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’, Shayne Ward with ‘Breathless’ and Soulja Boy with ‘Crank That (Soulja Boy)’.

To be able to sell more records, you have to be in some kind of competition where your fans would have to support you all the way and buy multiple copies of your album just so you win. It sort of worked for 50 Cent and Kanye West. Could it work for two divas as well?
Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige are said to be setting up their own record release date showdown. But according to SOHH.com, it’s not true. The diva duo won’t be releasing their albums on the same exact date.
Mariah would be releasing her new album first on November 20th while Mary J will drop her new album on November 27th.
